HP ProBook 5330m

This latest business computer by HP, the HP Probook 5330m, comes with a great design that is friendly to the consumer. Some of the features that make this laptop stand out above the crowd is the fact that it has a backlit keyboard and dual-tone aluminum chassis making it one of the best looking work laptops out there.

It also offers a fingerprint reader for additional security and Beats audio technology which makes conference calling possible and allows listeners to hear music crystal clear like the musicians intended for it to be.

Tegra_2[1]

The Duo Core mobile processor was bound to arrive.  The market has evolved to produce a Tegra 2 Tablet for the same reason we got core i5 laptops etc. An ever increasing hunger from applications for processing power. The Tegra 2 Tablet processor really is a revolutionary CPU. For the first time it will allow you to use your tablet for the same sort of applications you would use your laptop for.

Since the Tegra 2 is made by Nvidia, it may come as no surprise that it also includes a Geforce GPU core. Making 3D games possible on your tablet. Another feature is the 1080p Video Playback Processor. This is basicaly a piece of hardware that takes over a software function. It does the processing for HD movie playback. Since it is more efficient it saves processing power and is much lighter t on battery power etc.

Here is a quick review of some Tegra 2 Tablets:

Motorola Xoom Tablet

motorola-xoom[1]

Verizon and Motoral joined forces to produce the Motorola Xoom. This tablet will feature Google Android Honeycomb. this OS was built especially for tablets, meaning everything you like on tablets like widgets, notification and multi tasking will be so much smoother and more fun.  Heads up this is an awesome tablet. It might be the first true Ipad competitor.

Specs:

  • 1Ghz dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor
  • 10.1 ” 1280X800 gorilla touch screen display
  • 1080p video and HDMI output

    • 1200 x 800 display and full HD support.

    Dell Streak 7 Tablet

    Dell-Streak-7[1]

The Dell Streak 7 is also a Tegra 2 Tablet running Android. It has 4g making it a better pick than the Motorola Xoom in that regard. My problem is that it is still running Android 2.2. I don’t know why they did not release it with Honeycomb. Honeycomb was specifically designed for tablets so it should bring a significant improvement.

    Specs:

    • 7-inch WVGA (TFT) touch screen display using Gorilla Glass
    • Google Android 2.2 Operation System
    • 1.3megapixel (front) and 5 megapixel (rear) built-in digital camera

    Lenovo G450 Review

Posted on December 17th, 2010 | by bea

    Lenovo_G450__29492HQ[1]

The Lenovo G450 laptops are budget laptops that pack extraordinary power. They come out withlarge ammountss of RAM. This makes sense because higher RAM is a cheap way to increase laptop power. In this Lenovo G450 review we will look at both G450 versions. There is a large difference in power between the cheaper and more expensive options. The more expensive option has a Nvidia Geforce 512MB graphics card helping it grab our attention.

The G450 Laptops bothhave 144 inch screens and 320GB Hard Disks making them excellent in storage, but questionable in the screen size department. If you are in the size doesn’t matter camp feel free to read on, because even with this drawback, you get incredible power for money.

    Lenovo G450 – 2949CHU

    Lenovo G450 - 2949CGU

The Lenovo G450 – 2949CHU is the first cheaper member of thLenovo G45050 line with a 14-inch LCD screen. It features an Intel onboard graphics card and a Duo Core Processor.

Cnet estimates the price range for the Lenovo G450 – 2949CHU starting at $599.

    SPECS
    Processor Intel® Pentium® Processor T4300 ( 2.10GHz 800MHz 1MB )
OS Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64
Display 14.0 ” WXGA LED Backlight TFT 1366×768
Graphics Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X4500
    Memory 4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz
    Hard drive 320GB 5400
Optical Drive DVD Recordable (Dual Layer)

    PROS

Most of the best of the Lenovo G series can be found on this one: fat RAM space, large hard disk capacity and a powerful processor.

    CONS

Like most of its siblings, the Lenovo G450 – 2949CHU is only able to process normal graphics and none of the heavier ones.

    Lenovo G450 – 2949CGU

    Lenovo G450 - 2949CGU

Lenovo has outdone  itself with the Lenovo G450 – 2949CGU. This laptop has all the makings of being an excellent replacement or alternate to a desktop PC.

First, it is armed with the technology of Intel’s Core 2 Duo processors. The Lenovo G450 – 2949CGU, in particular, has a processor clocked at a speed of 2.20 GHz. To make sure that there are no problems while the system processes memory hungry programs, Lenovo has given the laptop a whopping 4-gigabyte capacity for random access memory. Memory, after all, is a very important part of a computer’s functioning. When it processes a lot of information, the computer needs memory to keep operating. If it runs out of memory, it will be forced to trade memory packets from one program to another thus causing lags in the system.

Another remarkable feature of the Lenovo G450 – 2949CGU is the Nvidia Geforce graphics card it has on its chipset. This makes it an ideal platform for gaming and multimedia. The Nvidia GeForce G210M graphics card has a video memory of 512 megabytes, making it powerful enough to process heavier graphics for both games and movie editing. You can do a lot of things with the Lenovo G450 – 2949CGU, same thing as you would a desktop PC.

Worried about hard disk space? Everyone does, but with the Lenovo G450 – 2949CGU you shouldn’t have to think about it. Lenovo has given this laptop a very fat space for physical memory. 320 gigabytes is already enough for whatever needs that you may have: whether you’re an active downloader of music and movies, a gamer, or a businessman. You can put in a lot of files into your computer and still have enough space for more to come.

The Lenovo G450 – 2949CGU also features a LED-backlit LCD. This means that the screen, which is 14 inches in size, uses light-emitting diodes to balance contrast and brightness to prevent glare and your own reflection from showing up at the screen. Glare and reflections can be very annoying, especially when you’re using the laptop outdoors. But this is not a problem with the Lenovo G450 – 2949CGU, member of Lenovo Essential Family.

Other features of the Lenovo G450 – 2949CGU include:

    • A DVD writer/reader that has support for dual layer DVDs. This means that you can burn more than the standard DVD-R by using dual layer recordable DVDs.

    • Bluetooth version 2.1 + EDR

    • Intel Wireless Wi-Fi Link 5100

Prices estimates for the Lenovo G450 – 2949CGU starts at $699 according to Cnet.com.

    SPECS
    Processor Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T6600 (2.20GHz 800MHz 2MB )
Operating system Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64
    Graphics NVIDIA GeForce G 210M 512MB
    Memory 4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz
Screen 14.0 ” WXGA LED Backlight TFT 1366×768

    PROS

The best thing about buying the Lenovo G450 – 2949CGU is its Nvidia GeForce card. Nvidia is one of the best brands of graphics cards out there, and they are known for their excellent support for gaming. Thus, with a Lenovo G450 – 2949CGU in your travel bag, you can entertain yourself while on a long trip by playing your favorite games.

The Lenovo G450 – 2949CGU also has a very large memory capacity, making it a good complement for its powerful Core 2 Duo processor.

    CONS

At 14 inches, the Lenovo G450 – 2949CGU’s screen is quite small. However, it is not small enough and it more than makes up for it by its excellent resolution. It has a native resolution of 1366×768, the ideal resolution for clearer and more detailed graphics.

The Lenovo G450 – 2949CGU also lacks certain connectivity features like USB ports, and others.

    CONCLUSION

Whether you’re a gamer, a businessman, a student or an average user, the Lenovo G450 – 2949CGU has all the features that you would need: a good graphics card, an excellent processor, ample hard disk space and lots of RAM to boot. If you are willing to overlook the lack of USB ports – an essential part of any laptop – then the Lenovo G450 – 2949CGU would be worth the price you pay.

    Lenovo Tablet

    x201twwan05-small-top-11[1]

The Lenovo Thinkpad X201 or the Lenovo Tablet is for those people who have not totally thrown away the idea of laptops and netbooks. The x201 tablet is something of a cross between a tablet and a netbook.

This Lenovo tablet is extremely powerfully. It features a low voltage Core i7 laptop CPU and 4GB Ram. It does have a keyboard, but it also features a tablet touch screen. All of this comes at a price though $ 1 900 to be exact.

    Design

The X201T looks quite a bit like the X200T in terms of the soft touch plastic lid and the square edges. The Chassis is a metal alloy. It has an external Wimax/3g antenna. The laptop weights 4 pounds and has a wide array of ports including USB 2, VGA and HDMI.

    Specs

    CPU:           Core i7
    RAM:           4GB
    Screen:      1280×800 pixel Touch
    Graphics:   GMA 4500HD
    Battery:        4 cell

    Pros

    Great performance.
    Best of both worlds.
Lots of extra apps including battery management and HD recovery.
Most important pro is the huge amounts of power.

    Cons

    Expensive.
Most people would like either a netbook or a tablet.
    Speakers are very bad.
4 Cell Battery can be run down quickly by the i7 and GPU.

    Conclusion

I think there might be a market for this Lenovo Tablet. Especially baby boomers who want to test the water with tablets and have the safety of normal laptop. I won’t by it though as it seems to me a bit like a solution without a problem.

    Hex Core Laptop

Posted on August 13th, 2010 | by admin

    Eurocom-D900F-Panther[1]

We are getting a lot of questions about the availability of Hex Core Laptops or said differently 6 Core Laptops. With the the Hex Core, Intel i7-980x, just launched we had to dig deep to find a 6 core laptop. Luckily Eurocom answered the market’s call.

Here are the specs for the Eurocom D900F Panther.

    d900f-2-400x266[1]

    17″ Glossy Glare LCD (1920 x 1200)
    i7-980X Intel Core i7 “Gulftown Extreme,” 6-cores, 8MB L3 (3.33GHz)
    1GB GDDR3 Nvidia GeForce GTX 280M
    12Gb DDR3-1333 PC-10600 SDRAM
    (2) 512Gb Toshiba Solid State Drive: MLC NAND 43nm, SATA-300
    4GB Intel Turbo Memory 2.0
    Panasonic 2x Blu-Ray Writer & 8x DVD-RW
3 Megapixel Webcam, Bluetooth, Wireless A/B/G/N
12-cell Battery, TV-tuner, and 3-year warranty with tech support

Note that there are no OS included. They probably figured only a real tech junkie would want to buy this and would end up installing his prefered version of Linux.

Here is a benchmark form Tom’s Hardware just for a little apetizer of what you could expect form this laptop.

    image015[1]

This is awesome benchmarks but we at the cost its probably not worth it. In time Hex Core Laptops will become more mainstream. One thing that will definitely need a breakthrough is laptop batteries. The are already having a tough time with quad core laptops. We are looking forward to the release of the Intel 6 core i9 later this year. This should be a real revolution in laptop processing power.

    Lenovo G550 Review

Posted on March 12th, 2010 | by admin

    lenovo-laptop

The Lenovo G550 laptops  is a are mostly intended for business usage, although one member of the family is also capable of functions that are intended for gaming, which requires more powerful features. In any case, being a family, all the members of this Lenovo G550 review share some common features .

One such feature is the processor. Two members of the G550 family are equipped with Intel Core 2 Duo processors, each running at an average speed clocked at 2.2 GHz.  The other G550 has a duo core CPU running at 2.3 GHz. In any case, these speeds are all good enough for multi-tasking. Being mostly laptops designed for business and everyday usage, multi-tasking is very important so users can finish their tasks quickly and efficiently. All of them also have fat memory spaces. They feature 2-3GB of RAM.

The Lenovo G550 laptops come in one size: 15-inch.  All LCD screens for the G550 laptops are wide screen, and all of them have the native resolution of 1366×768. this resolution is very favorable toward multi-tasking, especially when one needs to open and look at one or more windows simultaneously. They can do so by stacking window after window beside each other for quick reference while working. Regardless of sizes, however, all LCD displays in the G550 family are back lit by light-emitting diodes.

Majority of the Lenovo G 550 laptops are weak when it comes to the graphics part. Two models are given only integrated graphics media accelerators from Intel. However, one unit stands out – the Lenovo G550 - Core 2 Duo/Nvidia 512MB – because it has a dedicated graphics card with 512 megabytes to spare for graphics processing: the Nvidia GeForce G 210M. Of all the Lenovo G550 laptops, this model alone is able to function both for normal computing as well as for heavy graphics processing. Other members of the family are limited to basic computing purposes like word processing as well as some light gaming in the side.

Hard disk capacity also varies for the members of the G550 family of laptops. The core 2 duo laptops have 320 gigabytes of hard disk available for its users, but the duo core G550 has a 250 GB.

Let us now review the individual G550 laptops from Lenovo.

The Intel Core i7 laptop line is the latest addition to Intel’s growing number of powerful mobile processors.  Tagged as the latest in mobile processor technology, the Intel Core i7 is intended to update the company’s Core 2 brand.

All of Intel Core i7 processors are quad-cores, which means four cores are working in this notebook processor.  This type of processor has certain advantages, including its ability to tackle several applications at the same time and process heavy programs at ease.

The Intel Core i7 laptop processors are featured with Intel Turbo Boost technology and Hyper-Threading technologies.  The Turbo Boost technology allows Core i7 mobile processors to run at greater clock speed when bumping into demanding applications.  This technology automatically accelerates the processor’s performance when the user wants and needs it.  The Hyper-Threading technology, meanwhile, enables highly threaded applications to be opened in parallel.  This is great news to people who love multi-tasking.

Today’s laptop technology has really improved from the 386 laptops of the prior years to the multi-core notebook technology of today. These multi-core laptops for isntance a core i5 laptop are known for their great efficiency and improved performance over the single core processors that have been the norm of yesteryears. To describe their functioning, it is best to think of one laptop processor divided into many different subprocessors. That’s what where the name came from: each subprocessor is called a “core.”

The first multi-core to arrive was the Dual Core technology, spearheaded by the Pentium Dual Core by Intel and the subsequent ones by AMD. Through time, the technology was constantly improved until the quad cores or 4-core processors came out, followed by the “i” Cores. The Core i5 laptop CPU then came in and impressed many with its power; however, it is still a notch lower than the ultimate “smart” processor: the Intel Core i7.

The Core i5 laptop will have at least 2 cores and at most 4 cores.

A year ago people where asking, quad core laptop or duo core laptop. Things have moved on and the current, latest and greatest, is Core i7 laptops.  The Intel Core i7 is the successor to the Intel Core 2 brand. The current models still use 4 cores so it is still technically quad core laptops, but will soon utilize up to 6 cores, all of them hyper threaded.

    The geek stuff.

The mobile version of the Core i7 has 6-8 MiB of layer 3 cache. It uses a uPGA-989 socket with minim feature size of 42 nm. The TDP is 45-55 W.
